Both Peter and Miles retain their own unique way of swinging and flipping through the city, replete with a collectible wardrobe of suits that sent this reviewer to the game’s photo mode for hours. There are also smaller stories at play, though, ones that may seem less important when compared to city-wide chaos, but feel like potential world-enders to those who inhabit it. It’s the best-written story in the series yet (if still a bit cheesy at times), with performances worthy of the script. It’s a real triumph that it manages to cover such a wide spectrum of themes without suffering from tonal thwip-lash.

The studio has been hard at work on a new Wolverine game for the past few years, while a planned DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was also canceled. According to a massive leak in 2023, the studio’s roadmap revealed that it was aiming to release Marvel’s Wolverine in 2026, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 in 2028. There are a lot of moves and attacks to learn in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and they can all be found in-game under the Moves List. This list will expand as you unlock new abilities for both Peter and Miles. This Spider Bot, Spider-Armor MK III, is found in the Northern end of Upper East Side.
That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York. Obviously, what you take away from the story and its diverse cast of characters will be unique to you. On the surface, it’s another thrilling superhero story packed full of surprises, cameos, and Easter eggs – but there are deeper meanings to be found here, too.
The focus on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 made a remarkable splash in the gaming world when it launched on PlayStation 5 in 2023. The game delivered thrilling action and stunning visuals, effectively bringing Peter and Miles to life in a captivating way. Over time, the Venom symbiote created its own offspring, which bonded with a serial killer named Cletus Kasady to form the new villain Carnage. Sensing a greater threat than his grudge with Spider-Man, Venom reluctantly agreed to work with Peter to stop their mutual enemies and the two have maintained an uneasy truce, occasionally dipping back into their old conflicting ways. Since then, Venom has become something of a lethal protector rather than an all-out villain, protecting the innocent, albeit with more excessive force than his old webslinging rival.
Before Peter can die, the exosuit transfers itself from Harry to Peter’s body, saving him. After Peter viciously defeats the Hunters with his newly enhanced powers, Kraven develops an interest in hunting Peter personally. HM88 did not used to be mandatory for PlayStation’s PC games, but when one was required for Helldivers 2 post-launch, the whole situation exploded.

That’s not to say there aren’t benefits to taking a sneaky route, though, especially when you’re playing as Miles and using his invisibility power to quietly take out enemies. There are many perch takedown possibilities offered and new toys to play with too, such as the Web Line, which allows you to create your own highwires over your enemies to prey on them from above. It’s a fun tool that allows you to reshape the tightly designed arenas into a battlefield more in your favour, and in doing so, redecorate the room with web-wrapped people piñatas. On the other hand, much like combat, stealth isn’t a far cry from the many warehouse encounters you’ll have played in the previous games, as you clear out enemies using largely the same techniques. Instead, Spider-Man 2 plumps for a pretty confused take on the now venerable black suit/Venom’s origin storyline.

Actor Nadji Jeter displays all the range needed for the role, continuing to excel as a younger Spider-Man maturing before our eyes. He’s in his early twenties so has already navigated the difficult years that Miles finds himself in, but thanks to the symbiote suit, he’s working his way through yet more bodily changes. Primarily a Peter Parker story, Spider-Man 2 explores his relationship with MJ and the reintroduction of childhood best friend Harry Osborne into his life.

Given that Insomniac and Nixxes Software have released two other Spider-Man games on PC, fans are concerned as both of the previous releases have seen system requirements shared long before the official launch. Head for the North-Eastern corner of the plaza and look for the building wall with a vertical mural, depicting a cat on the bottom, a book in the middle, and a woman at the top. This Spider-Bot, JJJ, can be found close to the Northern border of Greenwich.
The new trailer also showed off the new webwings mechanic, as well as the AR tech fitted to Peter’s and Miles’ lenses. Better still, players can expect the sequel to feature more than 65 suits based on the comics, films, and original designs. PlayStation detailed the game’s system requirements on PC in a trailer and accompanying blog post.
