There are supposedly two Horizon slot Zero Dawn-based multiplayer games in the works that still exist. And there is Fairgame$, the Haven studios heist game that was not well-received during its reveal and has gone dark ever since. If another game is going to soon be on the chopping block, it may this be this one. A new Bloomberg report says that Sony has cancelled yet another pair of live service games, one from Bend, and the other from Bluepoint, was apparently an unannounced God of War multiplayer game.

He recounts events to his daughter Calliope, tying the new entry intimately to the franchise’s emotional core. Kratos and Atreus journey across all Nine Realms to prevent or survive Ragnarök itself. This entry also includes the Valhalla DLC, in which Kratos processes his Greek past in the Norse afterlife. Kratos is betrayed by Zeus while serving as the God of War, with his godhood stripped away. This game is widely considered one of the greatest sequels in gaming history. However, keep in mind that following this order requires jumping between very different gameplay eras and styles.

God of War Ascension

While some phases can be overly long and the beginning is a little tedious, the variety and pacing on display are top-notch. Later on, there’s another manticore, but this time Kratos cuts off the monster’s arm before the fight even starts. It has more health, a wing attack, and flame breath, but it’s mostly the same fight. In the other games, the rage meter charged up over time and could be used whenever the player was in a pinch to get a boost of power. Here, it’s still a meter that goes up with bigger combos, but it also goes down if the player gets hit and by a huge margin at that. With the number of tiny enemies on screen, the player is bound to get hit every once in a while, making the rage meter barely usable.

God Of War Iii

As in previous games, combat revolves around wielding Kratos’ Blades of Chaos. You will need to master the block and roll, and know when to attack and counter. Enemies give you visual cues as to when you can pull off a special or a finishing move, and the quick-time events are once again the fastest way to kill large enemies – but there are less of them, thankfully. His unrepentant anger and lust for violence is unmatched, and he continually managed to top himself in brutality.

God Of War: Ascension Multiplayer Dlc Is All Free To Celebrate Game’s First Birthday

Before that, God of War Sons of Sparta was released on February 12, 2026; and God of War Ragnarök was released on November 9, 2022 with the Valhalla DLC following in December 2023. To get the latest updates on the God of War series, make sure you follow Santa Monica Studio on X, Instagram, and Facebook. For God of War Ragnarök, check out the game’s official combat guide for tips on how to get the best out of your equipment and the better of the many foes Kratos and Atreus will face. Players should enjoy these games at their own pace regardless of the times listed above. For Ragnarök, expect to take up to 40 hours for the main story and a selection of side quests, and hours to see everything in the game. This unravelling, replayable adventure blends the beloved combat of God of War Ragnarök with brand new elements inspired by the roguelite genre.

Still, I like what this brings to combat, I just think it needed more time in the shop before it was ready for prime time. As such, he’s kind and gentle when interacting with the illusions of his wife and daughter. He knows that the most important thing about loving someone is being able to give your love to them, which is why he never seriously considers Alecto’s offer. While they never really dive deep enough to connect the player to his family’s bond, we do at least see how important they are to Kratos.

They can’t be upgraded, they aren’t fun to use, and their combos are limited and boring, meaning the best use for them is to toss them for a stun attack whenever you see fit. Top that off with the iffy framerate and brightness, the vast majority of enemies just being beetles, and the odd choice to start the story from the middle, and it simply doesn’t live up to the standard set by past games. And I have no issue with the story being nonlinear, but so far there doesn’t appear to be a reason for it, with the game giving this grand opening only to immediately cut away.

The game had its issues, with player data even being deleted at one point, but still has players going at it to this day even though the final DLC was released only seven months after the game’s launch. Clearly there are those who love this game for everything it tries to do, so let’s boot it up and find out why. None of them were ever destined to be the next big multiplayer craze, but there’s certainly plenty to do.

My only complaint is that he should have been in the story more, especially his mission with Aletheia. We don’t actually get to see Kratos contemplate or accept the reality of his family’s deaths. There are so many issues with this plot device that I’m not sure where to begin. As far as creating a bond goes, I don’t see how Kratos spilling the blood of the innocent or killing his family count as taking a vow of service to Ares.

It  may not reach the popularity of FPS multiplayer – but the fans it gains will be loyal. They don’t feel like an evolution of the battle mechanics so much as just a different take on them. You could easily drop the mechanics from a previous game into this game without missing a beat.
